Hospital care today is the "single largest component of most employers' healthcare spending²" and yet data shows that higher costs are not indicative of higher quality care.
Hospital care is billed to insured plans, on average, nearly 300% above what would be charged of Medicare for the same services. This lack of transparency and data reporting has lent to a consistent upward trend in spending every year.
Without a Third Party Administrator or payer oversight coordination, it is more difficult to aggregate data in a meaningful and actionable way.
